Our methodology
Where the data comes from
Every estimate is computed from the Flying411 marketplace plus the major aviation marketplaces we track (Trade-A-Plane, Controller, Barnstormers). Listings are de-duplicated by registration number, serial number, and content hash, so a plane listed in two places only counts once.
Inflation adjustment
Each comparable sale is inflated from its listing month to today's dollars using the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI All Items index (series CUUR0000SA0). The low / median / high you see is computed AFTER inflation adjustment, so older comparables don't drag the number down.
What we don't show
We never expose individual transaction prices, vendor identities, or aircraft serial numbers. Only the aggregate range and the sample size. This protects sellers' pricing privacy and our data quality.
What it isn't
This is not a formal appraisal. For insurance, financing, or sale decisions, consult an FAA-certified appraiser. The estimate is a useful starting point, not a binding number.
